Appears to be in the original frame - has thin wooden slats in the rear of the frame - incomplete cover with some missing.

We understand that Rex was a street artist seen in the Queenstown pedestrian mall in the 50’s and 60’s, and he proudly proclaimed that he was the worlds fastest sketch artist. The art paper is embossed in this manner - just below the signature which is faded but still legible.
